1. Acceptance of These Terms

By creating an account or using the KONGOLEX platform (website and mobile application), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions, our Privacy Policy, and any applicable supplementary rules. If you do not agree, you must not use the service.

2. The Service

KONGOLEX is a legal technology platform that connects users with lawyers and law firms for consultations, appointments, advice and related legal services, and provides community features. KONGOLEX facilitates connections and payments but does not itself provide legal advice.

3. Accounts and Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or have the necessary parental or legal authorisation, to use the platform.
  • You agree to provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information and to keep your login credentials confidential.
  • Three account types are available: User (client), Lawyer and Law Firm. Each account type has specific rights and obligations.
  • One person may hold only one account of the same type, unless expressly authorised by KONGOLEX.

4. Lawyer and Law Firm Obligations

  • Lawyers and law firms must hold valid professional licences and provide accurate verification documents (bar registration, certifications).
  • Professionals must keep their profile, availability and pricing information up to date.
  • Professionals act independently and remain solely responsible for the legal advice and services they provide.
  • KONGOLEX may verify professional credentials and may suspend accounts that cannot be verified.

5. Appointments and Consultations

  • Consultations may take place in person, by message, by phone, or by audio or video call through the platform.
  • Appointments are subject to the availability and cancellation rules of each professional.
  • Fees are displayed before you confirm an appointment. Payment is required to confirm a booking.

6. Payments and Refunds

  • Payments are processed through trusted third-party payment providers.
  • You agree to pay all fees associated with the services you book.
  • Refunds and cancellations are governed by the rules displayed at the time of booking and by applicable law.
  • KONGOLEX may suspend services for unpaid amounts.

7. Communications

Messages and files exchanged through the platform are stored by KONGOLEX as needed to provide and secure the service. Audio and video calls are transmitted live between the participants through a third-party provider (Agora); KONGOLEX does not record call content but retains call metadata (participants, type, time and duration) as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Community and User-Generated Content

  • You are responsible for the content you publish (posts, comments, images, files).
  • You must not publish unlawful, defamatory, misleading, discriminatory or harmful content, or content that violates confidentiality.
  • Posts and comments may be reviewed, moderated or removed by administrators or group owners.
  • You retain ownership of content you post but grant KONGOLEX a non-exclusive right to host and display it on the platform.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You must not use the platform to: commit or facilitate fraud or money laundering; solicit clients in a manner contrary to professional rules; breach confidentiality or professional secrecy; attempt unauthorised access to systems or accounts; distribute malware; impersonate another person; or otherwise violate law or these terms.

10. Intellectual Property

The platform, its brands and its content (text, design, logos, software) are owned by or licensed to ILLUMINATION METAVERSE GROUP and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce or redistribute them without prior written authorisation.

11. Limitation of Liability

KONGOLEX provides the platform on an “as is” basis and, to the extent permitted by law, disclaims warranties regarding the accuracy or availability of the service. KONGOLEX is not a party to the professional relationship between a user and a lawyer or law firm and is not liable for the advice or services provided by professionals. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Termination and Account Deletion

  • You may close your account and request deletion of your personal data at any time as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • KONGOLEX may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, that engages in fraud or abuse, or where required by law.
  • Outstanding fees and obligations remain due after termination.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Changes take effect when published on the official website and in the application. Continued use of the platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the applicable OHADA Uniform Acts. Disputes are subject to the competent courts of Kinshasa, unless otherwise required by law.
